Peptide Storage Guide: Before and After Reconstitution

Published: 2026-08-29 · PeptApp

Peptides are fragile molecules, and how you store a vial has more effect on what actually gets injected than almost anything else you do. The rules split cleanly into before reconstitution and after.

Sealed, lyophilized vials

Freeze-dried peptide is the stable form. Keep sealed vials cold, dark and dry: a refrigerator suits vials you will use within weeks; a freezer suits long-term storage. Avoid light, humidity and repeated temperature swings, and let a cold vial reach room temperature before piercing the stopper so condensation doesn’t enter.

After reconstitution the clock starts

Once water is in, degradation begins. Keep the vial refrigerated at 2–8 °C, never freeze the solution, and treat the manufacturer’s or supplier’s use-by window as the hard limit. Label the reconstitution date on the vial — memory is not a storage system.

A vial has two lives: long-term sealed storage, and a short clock that starts at reconstitution.

Travel and handling

Keep the cold chain: an insulated pouch with an ice pack covers a day of travel. Keep vials upright, out of sunlight, and away from a car’s glovebox — heat is the fastest way to lose a vial. For flights, keep vials in carry-on with their labels intact.

Inspect before every draw

Storage failures announce themselves visually. Before each draw check that the solution is clear, colourless and free of particles; cloudiness, floaters or a colour shift mean the vial is done, whatever the calendar says. When in doubt, throw it out.

Track it, don’t memorise it

PeptApp stamps each vial’s reconstitution date, runs a 90-day expiry clock with an alert, schedules regular vial inspections with a pass/fail checklist, and keeps the history per vial — so the question “is this still good?” always has an answer.

Let the app do this math

PeptApp calculates reconstitution and syringe units, schedules every dose, tracks vial expiry and reminds you to inspect — all on your device, nothing in the cloud.
